Nokia has just announced the X5-01, a device running Symbian S60 3rd Edition with a sliding keyboard and a square form factor. Caution, do not confuse it with the X5 announced recently for China!

According to Nokia, the range X5-* is clearly between X3 and X6 (logic). And indeed, without going into great touch screen, the X5-01 runs on Symbian (S40 cons for the X3). With this device, Nokia rather target young people, offering a small design for easy storage, a physical keyboard for SMS addicts and the provision of multi-color green / lime, purple, pink, orange and blue.

If I’m not a fan of the design, I asked to test the form factor in everyday life, because I know that sometimes the square devices are not very pleasant and ergonomic handle. What do you think?

Belonging to the series “X”, dedicated entertainment, X5-01 has an important musical axis with special keys for controlling music, speakers of good quality and access to Ovi Music (with offer Comes With Music in some countries but not in France). It will also incorporate a feature to randomly play music using the accelerometer and it seems that the implementation Playlist DJ will be pre-installed (an application that lets you create music playlists based on mood).

It will be possible to insert smileys in your messages, listen to your unread messages (listen or read) by shaking the phone

Level specifications, the X5-01 has a screen 2.3 “QVGA non-touch, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, 200 MB of internal memory small but a 2GB micro SD card is included, with the possibility of going up ‘to 32GB.

Level self-announced, 16 days standby, 24 hours in music listening. The X5-01 would first arrive in Indonesia in the third quarter for about 165 € naked. No information yet for France.
