For exactly five months, I have my Nokia 5140 and I thought it is time to write a report. I bought it out of a contract extension.

Nokia 5140 Reviews Nokia 5140: Finaly, My phone is ringing!

PRICE

of 29.90 € for Vodafone D2 (as of 16:06:05).
Today you can used it for about 100 € uro (without contract) to purchase in eBay or new to the store about 200 € uro (EIA).

ACCESSORIES

Standard equipment includes the following accessories for this phone:
- Sport Headset HS-8
(Splash water protected, important phone features and push to talk feature are directly controlled via headset)
- Lithium-Ion battery (standard) BL-5B
(760 mAh – Talk Time ~ 4-5 hours, stand-by ~ 250 hours)
- Xpress-on cover, color: black, red or blue (standard)
- Standard Fast
- 134 Seitenstarke Guide
- Including rubber flap pocket clip, plastic carabiner (with lens)

First of all, this is extremely prone to breakage. Then the problem is it festgeclipt once, you get it only by brute force again! In the end it is totally uncool, unnecessary and platzaufwändig. Instead, they prefer to put a smart mobile band there! * * Mecker

PACKING

The whole thing was packed in a 23 x 7.5 x 14cm wide board with a typical Nokia design, including 3 phone model specific IMEI stickers.
Inside an “egg carton” and its matching Einlegefächern for all items that this once again packed separately in protective plastic bags.

D A S H A N D Y

According to Nokia it is in this model, at an outdoor and sporting mobile phones.
Okay robust, it is safe and also has sport-specific functions such as Compass, flashlight, countdown timer or stopwatch (more on that later) – but “outdoor”!?

One or two models before that I had the Nokia 6250 and Outdoor THAT was! The 6250 could throw against the wall or in the Krupunder lake and walking an hour later came back and then it was probably rausfischte already taken two phone calls and SMS to meet 3 * lol *
The 5140 is only water resistant, dust resistant and …

DIMENSIONS

106.5 x 46.8 x 23.8 mm, the dimensions of this phone and this is my opinion, not too small and fiddly and not too bulky.

WEIGHT

It weighs 100.6 grams with battery
It is obvious that one still has the phone in my pocket, but it also carries no branch: o)

DISPLAY

The active display area of 27.3 x 27.3 cm.
I personally like it when half my phone is not from the display and I always, always and in everything to be careful not to make scratches on it.
Therefore, I find this size to be fully sufficient, and should I times, next to the phone, have change in your pocket and what I can scratch easily change the Xpress-on Cover (hence ensure the name).
The “real” display is in fact “in” the cover and thus will not be unquestionable.

Below is this is a passive matrix color display, and where we are on colors, it has 4096 of them with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels.
It can be seen at once to a maximum of five lines of text in the default text size of 16 pixels.
Enough to fit, wobbles, and has air!

NAVIGATION
The standard keyboard has one a top 3 selection buttons and a four-way directional pad for navigating through and in the menus. The functions of the right and left soft key can be defined by the user himself.

I, for example, with me left my favorites like calculator, calendar, alarm clock etc. and set up on the right selection key is the address book. Practical!

The menu list can be selected either in grid form – then you have all the menu items on a page – or choose to scroll the list function “and is every menu item or an animated, thematically appropriate, symbol. This is certainly a matter of taste.

FEATURES

Has to offer this phone?
This time I just go from the menu …

Fine and commendable, I think here the “message counter” look into what can be written as many SMS you get and how many have.

What I appreciate so much that one can store not only is the phone number of a person, but – if necessary – also a second and 3 Phone number (eg private and company), mailing address, eMailaddy, fax number, and other details of the person under “miscellaneous”. These then a stored image and you have the caller even visually on the screen when he calls and logs (!): Fine, fine: o)

6th MEDIA

- Camera
- Radio
It works only with the headset.
- Voice
Up to 3 minutes you can make a recording.

7th PUSH TO TALK

For me, one of the most superfluous functions of today’s phones!
In principle, these are the same as the one the phone only operates more like radio, while only the paid (per data volume) which is really spoken.
Stressful, expensive and unnecessary!

8th ORGANIZER

- Alarm
- Calendar
- Task list
- Notes
- Synchronization
e.g. with the PC or a compatible Organizer
- Wallet
Here you can pin numbers, PINs, etc. . Note Who stupid like this (sorry), and does so with his cell phone is your own fault!

9th PROGRAMS

- Games
I’ve been here 18 games accumulated.
From Monopoly and Monopoly Tycoon, Winter Games, 2Fast 2Furious, South Park Sport, on a number of text adventures, up to four parts of BobbyCarrot, various MiniGolf variants, quizzes and a pinball is all there and I am always glad that this is so when I again mistaken wait long at the office or on the bus must be: o)
BUILTIN here were the games, “Adventure Race” and the program (>>>) “fitness coach”.
- Library
Anything that does not play, but more “programs” goes here.
- Extras
Calculator, compass, countdown timer, stopwatch, noise measurement (in dB) and a thermometer to hide here.
What can I say?
Calculator and stopwatch can I find sometimes not practical.
Noise measurements and thermometers are two games which I personally find quite funny that I could do without but also perfectly! Sports-Outdoor Handy just …

10th SERVICES

This puts everything that has to do with the Internet and via mobile phone is expensive * grin *

CAMERA

Of course this phone, as now, almost everything, a VGA camera intrigued.
640 x 480 pixels, 10 second self-timer, viewfinder image in the display, standard, portrait and night mode for capturing images to save pictures in the gallery as long as the memory stores, three different quality settings (High, Normal, and Standard), video camera function in H263 format (record up to one minute in length).
This is not necessarily the highest state of things, but if I want to shoot digital then I take my digital camera! Normally, mobile phone and no photos etc do * wink *

What else?

- The shape of the Nokia 5140 is called “boom”.
- Will support the GSM 900/1800/1900 networks.
- From vibration function, I would like these days no longer talk, that’s already standard.
- NO Bluetooth, infrared JA.
- Internet: WAP 2.0
- Memory size for all media completely 4.1 MB
- And do not forget the flashlight: o)
Ultimate degree, it has saved my ass than in our stupid staircase again the light was broken and I can come home at night, the keyhole was not without a light.
Operation is fairly simple: solve key lock and hold the # button for about 1 second, even above the light shines. Yay!
- Hall I’ve often even in the underground tunnels where the mobile phone has given up its network next to me for a long time to search!

What should I have now forgotten in technical or organizational details can forgive me, but more me not thinking of?

EXPERIENCE

What I can generally talk about the phone?

POSITIVE

So, at first it is definitely a very ROBUST MOBILE can and sometimes a case of the table edge or other shock well tolerated.
From many sides I’ve heard that the buttons are fiddly to use, so I do not feel this way. I remember as e.g. Nokia 8210 to the DAS was fiddly!
What has convinced me is the SOUND THE CALL. Clear, loud, not schnorrig or disturbed. Here I was fully convinced.
Also, the DESIGN is for me personally 1A. No mobile where you are afraid to break something must break to scratch or it just falls out of one hand.
Also positive is that if the warning sound of BATTERIES makes itself felt, sticks still call about 1 minute, write and send at least one SMS, or at least 30 minutes in standby mobile phone. This used to be different, as it has scarcely beeped because the topic was already over and it was stupid because in some circumstances.

NEGATIVE

A bit unlöblich I find RUBBER COVER the bottom of the phone which closes the connections. Although it is, however, my initial fears, still not worn out or torn down. However, I find it annoying when eg has the hands-free turn. – But because I like me do * think *
Otherwise, only the selectable bothers me BACKGROUND DESIGN OF MENUS. Nokia might have been here but can be a bit more effort!

F I Z A T

My first phone I got myself in front of and at 11 years and then it was a Motorola, I also tried it with a Siemens, an Ericsson or Alcatel. In the end, but I’m always returned to Nokia! And since I a while a slight Handyfimmel and perhaps had too much money (yes, the times it should have been lol) it must have been about 17 models from Nokia that I have used times longer and sometimes shorter.
Again, I can only say again to recommend an all-round mobile phone that I do not want to miss!
Although I will probably come in late January in possession of the successor, the Nokia 5140i, but I’ll pass on this here with an absolutely clear conscience about my father: o) I can recommend this Nokia model in today’s jungle of cell phone models.

Pros: Durable design, Splash, flashlight, compass, measurement. . . and may call you so well! * Laughs *
Cons: Menu background pottenhässlich!
