Nokia 3600 Slide : World – I’m available!
My cell phone had now read some more years under their belt, the battery noticeably. Since I was glad that the time was ripe for a contract extension. Unfortunately, my provider has long known that I belong to the species of infrequent users. I need it for emergencies rather than data storage and Familienfriedenbewahrender Geburtstagserinnerer, maximum or for the coordination of the teenager driving services. (My family complained all the time: why did you even a mobile phone?. Usually it is in the bag and is then either the car or in the closet … or the battery is down, since one rarely hears a ringing.)

The offers were therefore my provider also poor, eventually it should not cost much. The brand, however, was already fixed in advance: Nokia, it had our rabbit care, in which he had the cables of the chargers killed and I had to be as well to help my husband.
The Einfachheithalben I went to a dugstore and behold, this device would have cost me directly via E-Plus almost 50 € supplement. Fell down, with only 10 € and gave a competent and there are very nice addition!
1st Purchase and price
As I said, it was a contract extension at 10 € supplement. The price of the manufacturer is: 163 €.
2nd Packaging and instructions
I got the phone in its original packaging, a practical and fairly stable gray box! This has been spiced up with graphic elements.
It also includes an extensive and well-to-read manual, you as an experienced Nokia users need not actually (maximum for single issues).
3rd Support networks
• Quad-band phone for GSM 850/900/1800/1900-Netze/EDGE
4th Size, weight, appearance
• Volume: 59.7 cm3
• Weight: 97.3 g (with battery)
• Dimensions: 97.8 x 47.2 x 14.5 mm postponed about 128 mm
In this model, you have the choice between two different colors: Red or Dark Charcoal (Anthracite, almost black). I chose the women-variant in a dark red, almost brown. In this coloring extends from the bottom to the top of the gradient over the phone, above, it is then more black. The back is dark brown with anti-slip Softtouch.
I like the slightly different color scheme, certainly less noble or expensive, but noticeable and pleasant – just something different.
The material is safe plastic, but by design not a cheap, slightly shiny, with rounded corners beautifully and the important buttons on top are decorated with colored inserts. The number keys are illuminated white.
The Nokia 3600 fits the size of her in any pocket, but remains clearly perceptible and findable – in a handbag is a key criterion. It was not as thick as a slider, like many predecessors.
The buttons are large enough to meet and well, well removed from each other and provide a clear feedback while operating. The selection and call buttons and the five-way key below the display are even more abundant and can be made even with gloves still operate.
The slider mechanism reacts tight and has very little game, all elements were well made and there are few gaps
It is well and safe in the hand is to use even with one hand very well, like design and processing it very much!
5th Display and User Interface
• QVGA display with 5.1 inch diagonal display (2 inches), 240 x 320 pixels and 16.7 million colors
Red-Black is framed to make a very large color display with very good resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, the size of about 31 x 41 mm is just enough like this.
The presentation of the colors is good, even when playing just the sharpness of photos and graphics there is nothing to be desired. The contrasts are good and clear, the playback seems high quality.
Pushes a slider up in order to get the regular keypad. The buttons are big enough, good for a safe operation.
On the surface without sliding has a total of five buttons – the key to the assignment. The middle button is the most important, in general, the menu button. You can push a total of four directions and thus has five different functions. The key result from the form, are nice and big, firm and user-friendly, with good and evenly distributed pressure point and with the aforementioned colored inserts
Right on the side are two small buttons to adjust the volume to determine. Moreover, even an extra camera key. Left is covered by a small cap of the Micro-USB connector as it is a little fiddle. I hope that holds the cover, as it depends only on a narrow ribbon.
The on-off switch is located above and is a bit difficult to use because it is not a traditional key, and was admitted into the case. It also includes the connectors for the charger and the headset – unfortunately without any protection or cover, that I know of Nokia usually different.
The antenna is integrated on the flip side, Speaker and camera (unprotected).
6th User interface – menus
• Series 40 3rd Edition
• 5-way Navi ™ key, two soft keys, send (also end keys)
• In the active standby mode, the icons allow easy access to key applications and data, the Nokia 3600 uses the Series 40 version. One finds the usual and predictable menu items at Nokia as Messages, Contacts, Log, Settings, Gallery, Media, organizer, applications, maps and the Internet – the main menu consists of eleven entries that identify well-designed icons and clear thanks to Nokia for newbies , even animated.
By the way, you can choose from a list – and a grid view and the latter also can not bear the names.
The structure is logical and easy to follow, as usual, very positive, Nokia. Some of the submenus get something so big and confusing, but you find your way around easily.
The operating speed convinced that zapping works extremely quickly through the submenus. Only the font size could be in the main menu and in some isolated features his lush, but here calls the two-inch display its toll. The problem size makes the display a razor-sharp and bright display somewhat competitive again.
I like the menu very much and Nokia does not want to miss, but you do not need instructions!
7th Messaging
• MMS messages creating, receiving, editing, and sending videos and photos
• SMS messaging
• AMS messages (audio messaging service for sending voice over the air)
• E-mail client with support for IMAP4, POP3 and SMTP, including user-friendly wizard to configure e-mail settings
With this phone you can text and multimedia messages, emails, audio and flash messages and postcards to create, read, send, and save. All messages are organized into folders.
MMS and SMS in the usual manner, in the offer are some pre-installed templates and graphics. SMS are available for a staggering 1,000 characters available and you can save 250 SMS. Of course there is the T9 predictive text.
The e-mail client offers an installation wizard, the server data of the popular mail services has already set, comfort features such as voice make everyday life easier. For the data with the PC is a micro-USB cable.
8th Connectivity
• Micro-USB connector
• 2.5 mm AV connector
• 2-mm charger
• USB 2.0 Full Speed (max. 12 Mbps) for fast transfer of music files
• Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo audio profiles for listening to music and control music functions without wires
• Ability to use the separately available Nokia Bluetooth GPS Module LD-4W for GPS location with Nokia Maps
• OMA DRM 2.0 and Windows Media DRM to protect digital content

9th Mobile access to Internet content
• WAP 2.0/XHTML-Browser over HTTP / TCP / IP stack
• Opera Mini browser
Since I use the phone not really go into the Internet, I leave here the manufacturer’s claims are simply then another.
10th Data transfer
• EGPRS / EDGE multi-slot class 32, data transfer rates of up to 296 kbit / s
• GPRS multi-slot class 32, data transfer rates of up to 100 kbit / s
• HSCSD, data transmission of up to 28.8 kbit / s when used as data modem
11th Camera and Video – Imaging Features
• 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, 8x digital zoom and dual LED flash lights
• Video recording in VGA quality
• Playback of stored video on the display: up to 30 frames per second in CIF resolution and up to 15 frames per second in VGA resolution
• Play videos on your TV: up to 15 frames per second in VGA resolution in connection with the Nokia Video-Out Cable CA-92U (sold separately)
• Present photos on a TV in conjunction with the Nokia Video-Out Cable CA-92U (sold separately)
The camera with 3.2 mega pixels is for one of the cheaper mobile category on here is very positive. Comparable models usually have only 2.0 mega pixels.
The images are mostly crisp and very clear. Only the quality in low light conditions. left something to be desired here, as well as the two flashes of little use.
Detail shots are very close with only a little patience really sharp. The trigger works, unfortunately, with a proper delay, you have to concentrate quite a long time and keep quiet to avoid camera shake recording.
Positive: for photos and videos you can use different filters, which was new to me. Under Options, choose Effects: Normal, Grayscale, Sepia, or Negative. This is actually something different.
The recording of video sequences is a function of memory size. like the quality of play and is not objectionable.
Photos and videos are organized into folders and sorted, can be edited, with frame, text or illustrations provided, or cut. This is the luxury range, with acceptable quality. However, it does not replace any digital camera. In addition, the lens on the back of unprotected quite appropriate.
12th Organizer and Address Book
• calendar and task lists
• Contact List (up to 2,000 entries)
• synchronize contacts, calendar entries and tasks with Microsoft Outlook on a compatible PC using Nokia PC Suite
The organizer includes the usual features such as alarm clock, calendar, notes, calculator, countdown timer, stop clock, and the task list.
An extensive calendar function to manage are appointments, meetings and events, such as the birthday of a family and can remember the one or the other. I use a long time and not want to miss it, just the function for remembering a birthday.
Contacts, tasks, appointments and notes you can synchronize with your PC. Add to address book gets you as many as 2000 contacts with various additional details and numbers etc. even with images or text note. The options are great, you can almost everything up to the size specify.
Man sets himself on right cards to the contacts and can send them too. Finally, I can assign each contact and a separate ring tone and listen starting at the sound, who is calling me!
The construction is also done in the usual Nokia quality: logical and understandable. Without this broad range as data storage, I would be hopelessly lost, long ago, I jot down all important dates, numbers and addresses in the phone.
13th Memory
• 64 MB internal memory, 30 MB of user memory
• Slot for up to 4 GB microSD memory cards
• 512 MB microSD memory card supplied with preinstalled map
The microSD card comes with 512 MB, although a bit thin, but you can replace them, yes. For me it is sufficient at the moment, although I uploaded a few albums and additional titles. Also, I use the address book with all its features are very extensive.
Who here would like to use the music player more intense should purchase a larger memory card is also recommended when using the very good camera!
14th Multimedia Features
• Stereo music player supporting MP3, AAC, AAC + -, eAAC + – and WMA files
• Up to 10 hours of music playback
• Stereo headset included with automatic music muting for incoming calls
• Built-in FM stereo radio with RDS function
• Manage your music on a compatible PC with Nokia Music Manager or Windows Media Player 10 and 11 The music player was defined as a key to me already on the display, right next to the menu. It offers a lot. It has an album and song list can be displayed sorted accordingly in a music library, all tracks and create your own lists. In addition, automatic track lists are available with the latest, the last or the most commonly owned pieces to choose from, or sort by genre, and albums. After setting up most all of the data such as artist, album and title are already available, at least if one uses the Windows Media Player.
You can rewind the track forward and to repeat or make a random order. About an extra tone control you can specify the settings for sound. Finally, it is also possible to play songs via the Bluetooth wireless technology, an externally connected audio device.
The title you want, you charge best with the help of the PC to the phone. The direct connection via a data cable to the computer, the phone recognized as an external drive and can be easily filled accordingly. Then only the music library must be updated in the mobile phone, and already the player will display the new material sorted by artist, albums, genres and composers.
The sound is really great! So far I’m on the phone never actually heard music, but this really easy-to-use player with great sorting and very good sound I will probably change in the future.
Nichtzuletzt but I use the music files as ring tone and can allow me so all sorts of games.
Of course, the phone also has an FM radio. To use this, but I have to connect the headset as an antenna and that is usually too cumbersome to me. I tried it, it works with an acceptable quality stereo. Positive struck me is the automatic channel search.
15th Ringtones, personalization and digital services
• Video, MP3, AAC and eAAC + ringtones
• Polyphonic ring tones with up to 64 voices (MIDI)
• Support for Themes 3.0 to download ringtones, themes and wallpapers over the air
• Ability to download and upload images and video clips
• ability to download games
Use the settings give rise to many possibilities, the mobile phone to adapt to your needs. It starts with the profiles, the tones, the background image, the selection of certain effects to the screen saver or all topics.
4 preinstalled themes are complete with everything, 11 different background images in some cases even more animated, three screen savers, 18 tones, 13 different tones, and so all sorts of accessories. Even without downloading additional themes you can change this romp, and play. The selection itself is certainly a matter of taste. I noticed, however, are high-quality images and very strong and cheerful colors.
16th What I have not mentioned?
Offline and demo modes
• Flight mode for safe use of the music player during a flight
Applications
• Nokia Maps
• Nokia Search
• Opera Mini browser
• Yahoo! Go
• Widsets
• Computers
• Java ™ applications (MIDP 2.0) Mobile phones have, of course, vibrating alert, speakerphone (with average quality), language and functions, as many as seven pre-installed games, a voice recorder and a computer connection via Nokia PC Suite. Inserting the battery and the SIM card is not a particular hurdle that even I’ve done.
As the dragging by using a SIM card once again has worked only partially (numbers and names, yes, no addresses), I took advantage of the synchronization with PC. In addition I plugged the included USB cable to the computer to the phone, and thanks to Vista support was searching for the driver automatically. The PC Suite is available on the website of Nokia and can be downloaded free of charge. Once installed, the company uses extensive opportunities. I have such as my address can type comfortably on the computer, dates written in the calendar, etc. It is just more convenient and more secure!
One thing I would, however, that I here quite easily and without effort a backup of my data filing on the computer. The PC Suite supports backing up, and the uploading the backup to the phone. Lastly, my data backed up and a loss of the mobile phone would be easier to get over.
When you purchase are already on the memory card where I can look for different cities and countries, addresses and places of interest, or routes. I tried it several times and am just thrilled. Now I wear a small device with me and I can also run in the largest shopping crowd (no longer in the mushrooming sees something different)!
The map that I fail to complete free update on the website of Nokia and! Genial!
17th Delivery
• Nokia 3600 slide
• Nokia Stereo Headset HS-47
• Nokia Battery BL-4S
• Nokia Travel Charger AC-4E
• Nokia Micro USB Cable CA-101
• Nokia microSD Card MU-28 (512 MB)
• Manual
The manual is not as extensive as usual (62 pages) and Nokia-typical understandable, logical and easy. As an experienced Nokia users need them but rather rare. The HeadSet I found rather negative, bad sound very sensitive and not necessarily recommended. Who hereby permanently and attractively want to hear music, it should be replaced by a better one.
18th Accumulator
• Battery: BL-4S
• Capacity: 860 mAh
• Talk time: Up to 5.5 hours
• Stand-by time: Up to 280 hours, the capacity of the battery was very positive. He was actually always a whole week. Charging takes about two hours.
19th My assessment
The Nokia 3600 slide for some weeks now so my new companion. The commissioning took place without problems, the transition was easy, only the transfer of the data turned out again a little tedious, though from Nokia Nokia. Finally, I also got the thanks of the PC Suite (see above) into the handle.
The design like it very much, not too coarse or too bulky, but pleasing and enjoyable. Not really like the colorful insert key on the keyboard. The finish is very solid, all rounded off nice and clean, no columns to get caught little surface for dust and dirt or somewhere. The cell phone seems pretty robust, can ever now and what is impact and scratch resistant and water resistant. However, you can see every fingerprint.
The slider works tight and without play, convinced! It is easy to hold, easy to operate even with one hand and I find it in my purse very well and can also grab it well – the assumption that I am also occasionally available.
The equipment in this price seems very extensive, even maps, route planner, and even GPS I could use here. The music player surprised me with an incredible variety of options. As I see my daughter, who usually completely waived on an MP3 plaer and their music only via mobile phone sounds. Unfortunately, we must upgrade, however, a larger memory card in order to exhaust him really and buy another HeadSet.
The camera seems at first glance, with its 3.2 mega pixels unusual in this market segment, but has especially in close-up and shooting in low light conditions, some weaknesses. For my purposes it is however completely, so it should not replace my digicam. Unpleasant rankles me the delay of the shutter button, here you need a steady hand – the way, I have rarely!
The resolution of the screen like it, just like the color, contrast and lighting. It could however be a little bigger!
Reception, transmission and sound quality are good, even very good. I particularly like the fact that suppresses background noise during phone calls. However, I hear a slight scraping at maximum volume and powered speakers.
With the offered memory, I am reasonably satisfied, but I may dem64 MB internal memory only 30 MB for my data and the 512MB memory card is full Ruckzuck (music, maps). After all, I have the opportunity to upgrade to 4 GB!
Negative note: the memory card slot is located under the battery cover – awkward!
The radio I will probably use RDS despite little, it can be operated only with the headset as an antenna and the headset is not worth much.
Very good as always really like about my Nokia menu system, it is logical and simple and without any instructions to get to your destination quickly. Also positive that many opportunities to personalize the phone. Although I reach back to pre-installed background images and graphics, but can adjust almost every ad and view on their own needs out, down to such small details as the font size. Great!
I am very satisfied with battery performance, which is very good and the information on the state-Bye can be more upward revisions. The charge has been reduced in my case, a whole hour.
20th Conclusion
-Elegant in all situations – With its unique look that draws attention to itself, combines the Nokia 3600 slide stylish elegance and modern features .- so the Nokia 3600 is promoted by Nokia itself.
Which I wholeheartedly agree on the whole. I like the design, even if I do not want to be called noble, but refreshingly different!
Compact, modern, robust, reliable and very powerful: the Nokia 3600 Slide is for me a pleasant companion in all situations. It fits perfectly in your hand, can be easy and safe to use, it is in all areas equipped for everyday life and rich, has very good reception and voice quality, at a very reasonable price! It is good ideal for telephony, but also a simple reminder, it is home to my numbers, notes, appointments and addresses, makes it even with a music player and camera for entertainment, and ultimately makes me even more on track.
Of course, it is meant for household use, not for business use, but I could not wait for the price, too. It’s just not a newfangled smart phone, but even for infrequent users like me to buy on a contract extension very favorable.
Pro : lots of equipment, extraordinary design
Cons : sometimes the camera, memory requirement, HeadSet
